My son was born in 2011. He's about to turn nine in a few months. According to him, a few months is "close enough," so he prefers to be referred to as a nine-year-old now. I was the same way at that age. I was never just an eight-year-old. I was "eight and a half," "eight and three quarters," or "pretty much nine."
