One of my students told her mother that when she is with me she finally feels human :/
That she can dream and have goals in this world, and that they are achievable, she is worthy of love and respect and that she is smart.
She also said the other school where they have to pass exams tries to take away all those positive feelings. They make her feel small, irrelevant, unrealistic, unseen and unheard.
She is 17 years old.
She said that all her friends see me the same way, mothering yet a friend. Inspiring yet approachable. And that though I can be intimidating and scary in an argument, they have never seen someone who loves so much and is down to earth despite their achievements.
She also told her mother that I was mean to the teachers' staff where she goes to school, and then instantly turnwd around to my students and was instantly nice...and then turn around to insult the staff back because of baseless accusations towards the students. And it can look insane because it is like completely different people lmao She said everyone was shocked.
I am glad she looks at me as an inspiration, but I wish the way i treat them wasn't an exception. I also wish I didn't have to show them that side of me. But I want them to understand they should fight and advocate for themselves. They should not fear the scum of the earth. The earth needs be cleaned and the first step is to face it.
She scored 98% which is excellent.
Because so many of my students end up scoring incredibly high, and it is a fast improvement, they often get accused of cheating. And I have to go to the formal assessment schools and advocate for their rights. They have such shìt teachers who discriminate, use marks to build connections and have no damn moral values. Zero. Incompetent and greedy shìts.
They are causing social collapse in real time.
Most of my students are refugees, orphans, poor..and most weren't doing well before I took them in. Some attend public school and then my classes, some only attend mine and register for the final public exams.
Every year I say this is the last time I will do volunteer teaching but the community appeals and people give charity to make it happen again.
I built a very good reputation because of it. Technically, it added to my reputation. Well off people ask me to teach their kids too but I refuse because it would open the door to several also complaining I didn't agree to them..I do feel guilty for refusing since they are still all kids , privilige or not, yet I am doing this to level up the playing field. They have access to opportunities my students don't and I can only spread my mind so much. I have the curriculums of several subjects across 12th levels of education! I am an entire walking Wikipedia at this point.
