I Am a Mother

I feel like my child doesn’t trust me with anything, he won’t tell me anything that ever happens, and it worries me that if something bad would ever happen he wouldn’t trust me enough to tell me about it. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. How can I help, when I don’t know what’s going on?

Lot of kids are like that. I was growing up and I still kind of am. He probably doesn’t know how to tell you or how you would react if he did tell you something. He’s maybe scared that you might judge him or tell him off. One thing you could do is sit him down and tell him I care about you and if you ever want to tell me anything you can , I won’t be mad at you or judge you as I love you and I want to try and help you. Also , if he does Adventurly tell you say to him we will do our best to get you through this. Things like that help build up trust.

I think boys are much less likely to share information. I don't think it's personal against you it's just how boys are.

You don’t get it, I was unlikely to share information too. But he won’t ask for help if something happens, he won’t tell anyone. And it worries me.

I said that to my mom when I was younger too. I don’t think I overreact. I don’t know if he thinks I do. Oh my lord

@KillerQueen1 He is learning to be independent, and he may be concerned that when he tells you things that aren't going well in his life, that you will jump in and try to fix them for him... and embarrass him. There are a lot of raging hormones in boys at that age, which can also be confusing for him and doesn't help. Try not to press him for details on his life, for that will probably cause him to withdraw, but just keep the light, general conversation going. And tell him that he can always come and talk to you when anything is bothering him. He will talk to you when he needs to.
