Not when I was younger, but through the years I've learned. It's especially important to listen. Not just hear, but listen and let the person talk.

I think the hardest thing for me was to learn to stop wanting to interrupt and defend myself. Once I got past that and began to truly listen, difficult conversations, while never pleasant, became more constructive.
