If your children are not confident then your job as a parent is to help them find their confidence....and to not make them hate you.
If you scream at your children to force them into submission like my father did then you have already failed....
My father screamed at us like he was a Demon... he didn't do drugs and wasn't a drinker....it was just his temper...
his face would contort into the most evil and demonic faces like any minute he was about to snap...this was horrific for me to see because I am and always have been extremely timid....what made it worse was it was very un-neccsesary behaviour from him in context to what the situations were....it was nothing that a good parent from USA wouldn't have been able to handle better... He was also violent physically and this is probably even worse than his temper...
I always remember how when occasionally his screaming would be interrupted by maybe my mum appearing and telling us to hush because someone was at the front door...Then he would talk to the adult at the door... oh its the neighbour just dropping off some apples , well my dad was suddenly Mr.nice Guy and spoke normal again to the Neighbour and he would laugh like he was friendly and relaxed.... We were not dumb, we were picking up on his absurd behaviour and we learned this at an early age....He taught us how weird he was and he taught us how to act weird like him....One time me and my sister both had therapy at seperate times and places , and when Dad was mentioned in our therapy both of the Dr.s said that he introduced anxiety into our lives.....my father the arrogant man that he is said that both of those Dr.s were incorrect in what they said about him....
It hurts to know that during those moments when he had the Demon face and one of my ears firmly grasped in his hand and he was twisting it and screaming at me, he genuinely thought that I deserved what he was doing....my ear would be burning for hours I even opened the freezer door and rested my ear on the shelves... and what was all this bad treatment for? what did we do that was so bad?
He admits that he tried to scare us into submission because we're not doing what he wanted... the consequences of his actions would prove to be disastrous for us all....For when the evil came a knocking, we were too submissive to deal with them properly....
