My dad owes me 10K USD Dollars Storytime

In 2007, My grandfather gave my mom a HUGE amount of money so she can put it in my bank account when I'm older to have a kickstart in life. She goes to tell my father about what had happened and he tells her that he will put in MY account and not to worry. Months go by and she EXPECTED him to have kept the money as it is. ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT HE SPENT EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR. Its not about the money, but the fact that he USED MY OWN GRANDFATHER FOR HIS OWN BENEFIT IS WHATS DRIVING ME CRAZY. Matter a fact, When my mom told my father about it, HE WENT ALL THE WAY TO HIS FAMILYS HOME AND SHOWED OFF ALL THE MONEY AS IF HE EARNED IT ALL HIMSELF. He made my mom look like she is a show off and wants to brag about what my grandfather had given me which isn't true!!!! WHAT A SELFISH INDIVIDUAL.

Just a quick update: Yes my parents ended up getting a divorce in 2014, No i didn't get the money back, I asked my mom if i could confront my father but her pride and self respect wouldn't let me (please pray that i ATLEAST GET TO DEFEND MY MOMS SIDE OF THE FAMILY!!!)

My father was disgusting in terms of morals but he has changed for the better now. Still dont think i could ever forgive for such a NASTY AND GHETTO thing to do. Shame on him for putting down my mother.

I am sorry this happened to you. It must make you feel like, really powerless, and taken advantage of. It's got to be so frustrating. But... I won't pray that you will get to defend your mom's side of the family, because even though you would be right, it would mean you are continuing to give your time and mental health to this problem. You can be right, or you can be happy, you often can't be both. Let it go, move on to be around people who will chose you even when they stand to benefit from not choosing you, and go live your life! Earn more money then he ever could of and 10k that you never had will be nothing to you anymore, be happy with life and the relationships you make, and you will stand out as a clearly more mature, more trustworthy person. You will win in the end. <3
