Remember fathers… little things have a huge impact on children.

There are so many things that my father did correctly while raising us. There were no detailed parenting books and a lot less research into the best parenting methods but he still implemented a few really important things.

1. He never let me quit anything that I started. No matter how rough it got, or how much I hated something I had to see it through to the end.

2. He put me in sports early. Being involved in athletics teaches children so much about themselves and it teaches that success is directly connected to the work you are willing to put in.

3. He told us, over and over, that we were going to be great. He didn’t just tell us, he demanded greatness and held me to a high standard in anything that I did. This was by far one of the most important details that I continue to carry with me today. Even in the roughest of times, I never stopped believing that I was destined for greatness. There was never any other option for me and I grind today because I know I have come close to my final form. I believe in me and his constant reminders of my potential for greatness molded that into me.

These things taught me about who I am, taught me how to set goals and work with unwavering focus in the pursuit of these goals. It also built resiliency and confidence in knowing that if I did the work, I would reach all of my goals.

I love you Dad. Thanks for the lessons and thank you for always demanding greatness.

Happy Fathers Day to all.

Great lessons! Those will last forever, as has my dad's advice, which was "a job worth doing is worth doing well".
