Do you mind shopping with your spouse?

My dad is banned from shopping with my mother. Could it be every man's dream?
My mother first noticed something whenever he was in the grocery section with her.
It was like someone stealing a sweet, you know it's wrong but just can't resist. Only this wasn't a sweet, it was a little grape tomato that had been safe in it's plastic box until he opened it and ate it.
My mum was shocked, "it's only a little tomato", dad told her while she pointed out that it was stealing and they could get thrown out of the store.
So she bought the box it had been in and grape tomatoes have been on the shopping list for a couple of years now. They are as addictive as cigarettes to him.
Now when they go shopping, he goes into the pub while she buys the groceries and waits for her text to pick her up in the car.

My husband used to do that, but he would put the grapes or box of cookies on the cart and snack while getting the other items. A couple of times I would hand the empty box to the cashier, saying with some embarrassment, "please ring this up, too." I asked him to just stop doing it, because if someone called the police it would be awful.
He compromised enough to wait until everything had been paid for and we were in the car. 🙄🤭
