I believe in God though I am a man of no religion. However if a specific faith was of great importance to me, then yes I'd discuss it with my children.

@Madeleine Part of my family on my mom's side were Suni Muslim and the others chose Christian faith.
My grandfather (from Guyana, SA) who was Muslim by faith welcomed any man in our home. One day he invited Jehovah's witnesses to come in. When they left I asked him how come he allowed them to come in. He said they believe in God like he does, they just call him a different name. He also said he has no right to tell a man how to believe or what to believe. But as long as they believed in God then they had a relation of common ground.

@Sapio There's a truth in what your grandfather said. We should show love and mercy to each other regardless of what we believe. Religion is the path to God, I believe when you love someone, you want to love them the way they want to be loved. Therefore, we should worship God the way God wants to be worshiped.

@Madeleine that's the problem. We love people in the way we want to be loved rather than how you stated, which is the right way. I chalk it up as the leading cause of failed relationships.
If I fell in love with a woman I would embrace her faith if that's what it took to prove my love.

@Madeleine when I say embrace I'm not doing it just for her. I'm taking a chance to open myself to something that could better not only me as a person but our relationship as well.
You see for me it is honour. That's at the pinnacle of my pillar of life. It's the foundation behind my belief that marriage should only happen once and why I have never been married.
If I want to dress up and invite a whole bunch of people to eat a nice cake, I can do that anytime. Being wed to someone means more to me than a big party.
