Is it true that familiarity breeds contempt?

Sapio · 51-55, M
Yes, it's very true.
Umile · 41-45, F
Well, once you get passed the honeymoon phase, you start to see the faults.

It can there's also an old saying that is true too much of a good thing is not a good thing anymore. We as people can be fond of each other and enjoy each other but we do need space a certain times too to remind us of what we have and what it feels like when it is not there. If you are constantly under each other's ass all day even lifelong lovers can become annoyed
I think it breeds complacency, possibly resentment, which then can lead to us not seeing our actions as the same as we hold resentment towards, which is a form of contempt if you do the same actions and you hold the other's actions different from yours.

Only if you picked wrong. The goal is to have a healthy relationship, but also have your own life and goals. Love and affection from others should be the dressing on the salad of life, not the whole meal.

Sometimes. I would think it depends on if the person who you are familiar with is contemptible.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
I don't think so all the time.
