Actually many are used to sleeping alone and you too will find it better than sharing the bed. You find it weird as you married early, but for those who marry later find sleeping together it as invasion of privacy and disturbance.
Even married couples should come together for loving and sleep in separate rooms so there is less friction in life. Also after travel for work became part of lifestyle, many couples are used to it.

I slept alone for a couple years before we separated. I was early to bed and early to rise, my Ex was a night owl. In addition, we had gotten sensitive to each other's sleep noises. In time, you may come to enjoy it.

Thank goodness when i got divorced i had a dog. She slept next to me, so it made the transition a little easier.

I know what you mean, whenever my partner is away it is odd when I wake in the middle of the night and she is not there, but I do admit I enjoy it.

@Lackwittyname I’ve noticed myself waking up more in the middle of the night for no reason since it started. I’m hoping that fades over time

@FLAme42 I am sure it will as you adjust, just takes time to become a new normal after 20 years

Amen to that. Divorced in 2013. First night of Separation I stayed in a filthy motel. But it was best night of rest I had in a long time.

@Prisoner1972 BTW I got remarried a few months ago. We sleep on a king size bed. Sleeping with a partner is possible. Only with a king size bed.

I honestly incapable of falling asleep in bed alone. I always need my boyfriend, brother, or best friend with me
People are surprisingly elastic. Just takes some time to get used to different things

I enjoyed it. Spreading out and knowing i was rid of her and i was free. Wonderful feeling

I’m married and prefer to sleep alone. You’ll get used to it.

I'm still married with 2 kids. Sleeping is a pleasure, usually bouncing from bed to bed to couch to bed.
The very occasional time my wife and I sleep in the same bed I feel like I get woken up just so she can make sure I don't get a good night's sleep

It's a lonely feeling. Making new friends will help that feeling go away
