Aside from devastating blows like affairs, abuse, addictns and such, how did you know you were really ready to throw in the towel with your marriage?

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to why some people get together romantically or whatever.
One possibility though is that someone sees another person as a project, like they are going to "fix" them. That is why some women date complete losers like jobless drunkards or abusers.
But yeah in that case I can see why you said, "time to throw in the towel."

Interestingly, that is ALSO the typical duration of most friendships.
Makes one wonder if people got married real quick if the marriage itself is 7 to 8.
Mine, BTW, lasted 14 years.
