Rules, behaviours, and boundaries
I recently mentioned the above in a post discussing a relationship structure that involved punishment.
A 'push back' was that in a particular instance the rules, boundaries, and behaviour expectations, were so numerous and petty, that it was almost impossible to abide by all of the requirements, and therefore punishment was always on the cards.
This is not the structure I was advocating. Unfortunately, there has always been, and will continue to be, disciplinarians who try to 'trap' a person, to justify to themselves the need to punish. Will these disciplinarians ever be trusted and respected - I think not.
The structure I was advocating, is not based on entrapment, it is defining a framework ( whether a friendship, a relationship, work, home ) where conflict is reduced, productivity increased, and common values are respected. This structure is defined to be beneficial, and for the benefits to be realised, shortcomings are addressed.
Be good.
