Parents are big on rules. They even put a list of them on the fridge

Rules give you a sense of safety. You know exactly where you stand when there's rules and discipline and better to have parents that care enough about you to set and enforce rules than to haves ones that are oblivious to you existance and don't care what you do or how you turn out.

@SW-User Remember, the biblical rule is that parents are required to stone their disobedient kids to death.

@Diotrephes it's actually about about a particular type of sin, "parabainō" Misuse of the law to avoid taking care of vulnerable elderly parents. Old testament law stated that adult children have to provide for their aged parents so that they don't starve to death. Stoning to death was the punishment for those individuals who were failing to provide for their elderly parents to the point of them starving.
