I tend to see religion as mostly indoctrination. I was raised Catholic, including parochial schools and regular Mass attendance, etc.

But one difference was that my parents allowed me to visit other churches and synagogues with friends in our neighborhood. They weren’t threatened by my being exposed to other beliefs.
