In children’s self-defense classes, are they effective or is it more of a “my kid is so cute with their little fists up“ thing?

I don’t have kids myself, and I’m genuinely curious if Kids self-defense classes are effective, these would be classes for toddlers and young elementary aged kids. A lot of the kids look pretty vicious and tough, plus when kids have a tantrum to my knowledge, they can hold their own pretty well, especially when they throw themselves on the floor and refuse to go anywhere.

Can a five year old little girl in preschool, or a seven-year-old who is in elementary, physically defend themselves and take out a real world adult attacker? I know in a lot of the classes you see Children and toddlers who are black belts in a fighting/punch position and they look pretty tough. I mean, would the kid be able to punch/take out an adult? how would it look or what would the outcome be in the real world?

First off just cos you know how to fight doesn't mean you won't lose against someone sometime but martial arts is good because everyone should know self defense.

@TryingtoLava This creeper keeps coming back with new accounts, always involving small children.

@TryingtoLava I kinda wondered briefly but wasn't sure. I hope not but i believe that it's possible. I deleted my original response which showed a kid boxing to prove that children can fight which is true. But i don't like the thought of them asking cos of some weird fetish

Could a 5 year old defend themself from an adult? No!
Does self defense training teach discipline, increase physical fitness, the ability to remain calm and controlled during a struggle? Most assuredly yes! Keeping kids active and fit is important

It varies from style to style and teacher to teacher. Some classes will be more useful than others. Then again, the same is true of classes for adults.

It can have positive effects
Give a child confidence.
Make a child aware of dangerous situations
It’s not a perfect world

I don't believe in pulling my punches, what if the kid has a grenade on them? Gotta take them out before they have a chance to pull the pin out.

No, they can’t defend themselves. And, your child isn’t leaving art camp being Monet either.

😀😀😀😀. It's just a scam to draw money out of parents, by making them dream and brag about. Just a waste of time and money.

@in10RjFox huh?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
So girls aren't worth defending?
WiTtt · 31-35, F
@MasterLee no? No. I’m asking can kids fight them off, isn’t that what it’s for?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@WiTtt yes

@SatanBurger she did really well. She was really going at it and the adult didn’t want to mess with her...

@WiTtt Well hopefully this should answer as to whether kids can do martial arts or not. But you can't force kids either so if your kid doesn't want to then they don't want to. But it is a good exercise.

@SatanBurger well I was really asking is it effective, or is it more of a babysitting outcome? This video the child was giving everything she had it looked like, and in fact the adult couldn’t do anything to her. I’m curious it’s like this with every kid
