You should start by helping out the needy kids near by your house, street in your locality, city etc. There after you can grow and actually know of more ways to indulge and offer.

I think so...its just my thought.

Nowadays everything becomes business. So i would suggest not to join in such organisation. If you want to help, directly support them.
Then catch the person who reason for war may be he is president of the nation and ask for fund.

Start by helping a needy child in your nearest vicinity & convey your wish to the Universe to take the lead.

If you don't mind promoting certain values, red cross often goes to war torn countries.

Some do question their values however. Certain countries don't even want them around. Like in Africa.
