I Come From a Broken Family

It does affect you, particularly when very young and it can affect you badly. Not so you want to become anti-social. More that you're always someone else's kid, never 'belonging' to the household you live in, always praying and yearning for your parents to come back together again and too naive to be aware of the possible consequences should they be forced to remain together.

If there's one thing this young mind learned from that all that shouting and rowing is never to trust marriage.

I consider myself fortunate however that both parents saw to it that I was always provided with food and shelter, a bed at night.

The experience wasn't life threatening, just not conducive to a positive view of 'contractual' relationships.
There's truth to that. I feel you.

Thank you @Umile18. Compared to many, I had it easy! Some kids went through hell with their parents before the end came. Both my parents were fair and very good to me, so I have no reason to complain. It's a pity break up of the family unit has such a devastatingly lasting effect on the kids.
@freeflow: Yrue. Glad to hear it didn't break you then. You're lucky. 😊
