it is not a question of age, but maturity.
An older teen, even young adult, may need a sitter

If the child, whatever his age, has never been "on his own"..... he can still need adult supervision......@GirlSerendipity

@bruno yes sir i guess . . . but at whatever age there will be a first time he/she will be on their own . . . so take a chance that first time and after that it wont be the 1st time anymore

@GirlSerendipity It is the parents' or caretakers' decision to choose when this first time should happen. And it can be late.....
