My dad's typical response when asked to take any responsibility is:

"I'm too medically sick to talk about this or give a decision"

Lol. This man is close to dying and still shamelessly evades responsibility like it's his worst enemy.

I mean now he's actually sick but this response has been constant for at least the past decade so much so that I can't take it seriously anymore.

I have realised that I do not and cannot empathize with either of my parents.
They might have raised me and educated me, but they are both so abusive about it and constantly rub it in your face and try to control everything in your life, down to what and how much you eat, that I cannot feel any love for them.

Can't wait for another job to roll around so I can leave again.

That does sound like an open gate to do what you want with what you want. Maybe he will find an opinion.

I hope you get what you need and go where you would rather be soon.

Leave him alone, the poor man is dying.

My mom pisses me off at some point every time I talk to her. Every single time. I didn't talk to her for many years. I don't expect her to change now. So I take a deep breath and let it go.

@TheHammer they will never change.

But yet you use them when you have no other choice

@lissah "use"? No. It's a decision he needs to take for his own child as they told me to stay out of it.

No one is using him, we are supporting him in fact, in all aspects of his life. We don't send old people to nursing homes here.
