Am I a horrible brother and uncle?

July 23 I texted my brother, "Prayers" because his wife was in labor.

That was the last time I talked to them. She gave birth shortly after.

I just texted him a moment ago, apologizing for being out of touch and vaguely explaining that I haven't been in the best mental space lately. Then I asked about his wife and the baby.

Still waiting on a response.

Is my excuse poor?

I honestly just feel like too much of a burden to get involved in anyone's life.
