Glaucoma can be treated successfully with eye drops and even laser surgery in some cases. If your Mom takes care of her eyes she should be okay.

Many people do alright with Glaucoma...I am a little concerned about the Dr. waiting a full year to check an older person for Glaucoma, seems like a long time, unless pressure was just normal before...I hope it's manageable - I know a few people that have it, and they seem to get along well.

My dad has glaucoma for more than two decades. The important things is to maintenance correct eye pressure with regular eye drops. The vision already lost cannot be recovered but maintaning correct eye pressure can prevents further vision loss.

It sounds scary. I would be worried too. But it is going to be alright..you'll see.

It's hard to imagine that they only recently checked her eye pressure. It is routine around here. Fortunately, it can be treated.
