Stand your ground, no you don’t. I didn’t either with my daughter. Of course she went on to try to ruin my reputation by spreading lies but anyone who knew what I had to deal with during her teen years etc. wouldn’t have believed a word out of her mouth. She is like her father. Had one of my former sister-in-laws say the very same thing to me when I was working as a greeter in a store and she saw me. She just said it out of the blue and I understood that she was telling me she knew what I had to deal with.
