My parents were not as conservative as many in the mountains

Their attitude towards nudity was never revealed to me in any conversations. I saw my Papa wasn’t always sure about my short skirts, but he never said anything to me directly.

It’s true more conservative or traditional views still prevail in rural areas and among older generations, where public or semi-public exposure remains largely unacceptable. My parents never really showed me any signs of their annoyance with how I dressed, when I was going out with friends in Rakhiv before I went to university.

I did wear some revealing clothes and I didn’t leave much to the imagination as a teenager.
