Thinking of telling mom I've been seeing this guy for almost five months now

We met at a bookstore when my friend and I were hanging out. We want to do it right and actually introduce him to my mom so he can ask her permission. My mom has cancer he understands that she is my priority but we also adults but I also want to do it right and not go behind her back and date him I'm nervous about telling her because I'm scared she will tell me that I can't because I should be focusing on her and my goals in life

@Nutshell29 I know a woman who lives with her elderly mother in the family home. She’s in her thirties but isn’t allowed to have men spend the night. It’s her mums rules. I understand that. She also doesn’t pay rent to live there so there is that.
