Not at all over reacting.she should have left with a sore backside if you ask me
would bother me too
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
She's not ready to be a mom.
CharityRae · 36-40, F
@CleverGirl you are so right! When she told us she was pregnant - my mom and I cried, like, sad and terrified tears not happy ones. We knew how this was going to turn out… she wasn’t ready to be a mom, she still isn’t. She is incredibly immature and it is so sad to watch. She doesn’t have her priorities straight at all & doesn’t work & doesn’t WANT to work either.
It’s just incredibly sad.

My brother has a stepson who isn't really his stepson. (My brother and his mother aren't married - they've just lived together for over 10 years!) We have had several family get-togethers where he has had an ear bud in the whole time - including Thanksgiving dinner! I thought it was very rude, but since he is over 21 and not my child (thank God!!), I didn't think it was my place to say anything. He's socially awkward anyway and talks so over everyone's head that it doesn't really matter if he participates in conversations or not. I suspect he was listening to a podcast while we were having Thanksgiving dinner and talking.
The part about her son coming to you for comfort when he got hurt is very sad. Does he see you as a source of comfort over his own mother?
All of this is more than what you need right now. Take comfort in knowing her son appreciated having you there to take care of his booboo.
To quote the musical "Bye, Bye Birdie" - "Kids, what's the matter with kids today?"
*hugs*

It used to be that appearing to talk to oneself out loud was a concern for therapy. Now it's 'normal'. Next time just keep asking her, 'are you talking to me?'. At least she might change locations.
CharityRae · 36-40, F
@ThisIsCrazy we did ask that - believe me 😂

It would bother me greatly

That would bother me to no end. You are not being old fashioned.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
If that was my son (which I don’t have), I’d slap the buds off his head.
If it’s a woman, like in your scenario, after a couple hours with the buds in, I’d tell her to take the buds out or leave.

She's very self-centered.
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
Oh hell no..you were right. I hate it when people near me have ear buds in and are listening to music or on the phone. Most of the time I cant tell and I start talking to them...
Its just sooo rude and annoying. When she's in your home, she talks to YOU.
Glad she left. She has a lot a growing up to do

That’s definitely rude. She could’ve stayed home with her baby and camped out on the phone.
CharityRae · 36-40, F
@bijouxbroussard or brought her baby to us and just stayed home herself and camped out on the phone- her baby is ALWAYS welcomed here 🤗
1490wayb · 56-60, M
she is extremely self-centered and needs major attitude adjustment
Benjr134 · M
No that’s just rude.
AstroZombie · 36-40, M
Definitely rude. But Gen Z and younger are raised to be glued to their phone 24/7 so be prepared to be called an "out of touch boomer"
Even though she WAS in the wrong.
