Rare Dad Moment
As the father of grown young men .. you seldom get those moments that land like when they were little.
My oldest is 25, an engineer making $bank, married with a house. He's visiting and after dinner we are having some bourbon and talking .. adult, weighty stuff. He stretches out on the sofa because he was up at 430 am for work, he's soon asleep. He wakes up and I suggest he call it a night and take his old room.
Just like when he was little, he refuses and tries to rally but is asleep again soon. I turn the TV and lights off, put a blanket over him, start toward bed. I hear "Thanks Dad" within a few steps .. just like so many times so many years ago. My boy is home.
