I am still struggling to decide what city I want to live in.

I basically have 2 plans:

A) Live in a city a few hundred miles away and live at my parents' place for a month out of the year (Thanksgiving -> Christmas), plus Easter week
B) Live in the city my family lives in.

Option A is unappealing because flying every single year and staying with them for a whole month sounds incredibly taxing on me mentally, not to mention the financial costs. I wouldn't have a car so I'd be totally reliant on them to drive me around.

Option B is unappealing because then I'd have to be careful about my reputation. If my family starts hearing stories about me, I know they're going to bother me about it and turn my life into a living Hell. It's not a huge city, word tends to get around easy. I have a tendency to garner a reputation pretty quickly and with my newfound freedom, that's only going to increase.

I've never liked acquiescing to other people's shitass beliefs. I've always been of the opinion that if you don't like me dressing weird, sleeping around, talking to strangers, etc. then that should be your problem, not mine. Y'know, because it's your beliefs and MY life. But then, you can't really apply that to parents because you can lose your relationship with them that way and I don't think anyone would stand up for me at all. Perhaps it is an arrogance on my part, but I can't really deal with acting ashamed of things that I don't feel are wrong, and hiding things like that does convey some measure of shame.

It's all stupid. Maybe I should just try to negotiate a shorter stay and rent a car.

Can you stay with someone else in the same city as your parents?

@Lostpoet I would be living on my own. I don't think I can put up with living with anyone else.

@Lostpoet Oh, you mean when I'm visiting in option A? Probably not, that would be a lot to ask.

@BlueVeins You don't have family outside of your mom and dad ?

Me personally I think I'd go with option A you can always be on your best behavior if it's only a couple of months out of the year.
