I'm not fond of compulsory gift giving.

The expectation seems to genuinely be that you just accumulate more and more stuff in your finite home until you eventually die. If I find something someone will like, I'll happily buy it for them but these days that doesn't happen as often as it used to. More and more products these days are just stupid and low quality anyway.

My sister and I both sent out gift registries this year. Glad we did but completely defeats the purpose.

Gift giving in the forthcoming December period (trying to be as non-denominational as possible 😉 ) should not be compulsory. Gift giving should be something you want to do (or not) for your own reasons. Also, if I give a gift, there is no expectation on my part that I will receive a gift in return.

I gave my guitar tutor a gift last Friday as I wanted him to know how much I was enjoying his lessons. Simple as.

Give gifts if you want - let others know what they mean to you. Don't give gifts to those who don't mean anything to you. It's your choice
