I met my great-grandfather once when I was 5 or 6 years old — he was around 80 at that time. Who did you meet? What do you remember about them?

I don't know any of them in person. The only thing I research many years ago, our ancestor was a Navy raised from San Francisco. He was in World War 2. No wonder I'm a good swimmer.
