Tell me about the furthest ancestor you remember meeting.

I met my great-grandfather once when I was 5 or 6 years old — he was around 80 at that time. Who did you meet? What do you remember about them?

I was raised, most of the time, by my great-grandparents. They were pretty young for great-grandparents, though. My great-grandmother was 48 when I was born. All the women before me had their first baby at 16 years old. 🤷‍♀

I remember everything about them, and I have patterned my own life after theirs. That is why I am so old-fashioned. They were very hard workers and never called in sick. They stayed married for life. My great-grandmother was always cleaning. She couldn't stand even one dust bunny. They had raised their daughters and their grandchildren before I was born, so they were the head of the family, and everybody listened to them. My great-grandmother played the piano even when she had crippling arthritis. My great-grandfather painted pictures every evening. He was also named the Master Gardener of our state. My great-grandfather was very kind and patient with me. My great-grandmother didn't care for girls. My great-grandmother was ill and bedridden for a couple of years when I was little. One time, she had a blood clot in her leg, and she had to stay in bed with this big heat lamp thing over her bed. One night, her bed caught on fire from it and my great-grandfather had to come to the rescue. I could go on and on. 🙂
