Were you ever put to sleep as a kid with melatonin or benadryl?

To keep it short, when i was a kid, if my parents were tired, they would slip me a melatonin or benadryl in water or juice. Just wondering how common was this back in the days, 20+ years ago.

Melatonin does nothing to me. I had a friend that was a brain cancer survivor that swore by it, but his situation had specific medical reasons it was helpful.

I think it's really fucked up to drug a kid like that.
