Were you ever put to sleep as a kid with melatonin or benadryl?

To keep it short, when i was a kid, if my parents were tired, they would slip me a melatonin or benadryl in water or juice. Just wondering how common was this back in the days, 20+ years ago.

My mother used alcohol on a wash rag. She just told me last night that I used to suck on that wash rag for all I was worth. I probably did. She drank during her pregnancy with me every day, and I was born drunk, so ya... However, no melatonin or Benadryl.🤷‍♀
