Home in Rome, what a day!

Goodbyes are never easy but a final goodbye is always the most tough, especially when your loved one never regained consciousness. My grandfather, who has been a very bright light in my life, in the lives of all of us, was the most open and supportive of people for me and for my daughter, for my brother too! He always showed how deep he loved me, us, and the steadfast example he gave us has been the mainstay of our success in life. I miss him so terribly.

We have arrived home so very aware of our loss, and Chiara was crying a lot on the flight, not understanding how quickly he was taken from us, but I have explained that he had been fighting a combination of problems for a number of years and the only confidant was his wife, my Nonna. I have said that we need to pray for him now and remind our Heavenly Father just how he has affected us (although God needs no reminder of the worth of this man). She has given me her assurance that she will pray for him every day.

Our flight was a short duration from Palermo and we got a taxi from the airport and met no major delay on the roads.
