It’s late now but I have been asked to give some of my personal history here.

My grandparents, paternal grandparents, are from a family of farmers and vineyards owners, my maternal parents were from the city, my late grandfather was a businessman and my grandmother was a teacher. My mother trained to be a teacher herself. My father being the second son needed a career off the farm, and he joined the Carabinieri.

My parents lived in Palermo for fifteen years with mother teaching and father working his way up the ranks and diversifying into the more specialised areas of policing. When I was eight we moved to pursue my father’s speciality as a anti corruption officer to Naples, where we lived in a very different house to our Palermo home in an affluent suburb of the city.
