How deathy serious I am about going out to CA to grab her and bring her back home to me while making sure her husband can *never* move voluntarily on his own, unassisted, ever. Again.

I think you are making a mistake.. While I support your intent to protect your niece, I would like to point out that should he recover enough to identify you, there will be consequences. If he doesnt survive, there will be an investigation that may lead back to you, and consequences. However, if his body is never found, he is technically only a "missing person". and not going to raise as much attention..😷
