I have seen an impish anecdote that for many is true !
A mother’s work is from “son up to son down”, but you could exchange ‘son’ for ‘daughter’, they can be just as demanding at times, although daughters might be less likely to appear as if they’re “anti-Mama”.
My grandmother says my father was always a helpful young man but you didn’t want to get on the wrong side of him because his sense of justice was demonstrative. I said that he is like this to a degree still but that he has mellowed with us.
She said that she never wanted for a better son in his devotion to his father and his mother, and I added that she knows how devoted he is to both of his children, but that we have always known just how far we could push an issue! She smiled.
She added that my grandfather is very much the same way and that there were some clashes during my father’s teenage years. I’m very much intrigued but I don’t want to learn of anything he might be embarrassed about because that would not be fair to him.
It was a very interesting conversation, that you needn’t get my mother involved in!
