I don't know if I'll send a letter like this to my Grandaddy, but if he asks I'm going to say it....

Something along these lines

I appreciate all the good memories I made with you when I was small, but knowing now all the terrible things you did and said to my mom

and that you keep doing.

I can't see you the same way anymore. After reading this, you'll probably think she's been pouring poison in my ear but actually I'm just not sheltered from it anymore.

Keep the door open a crack. People do change.

It's not easy for some to change though. So don't expect it.

I'm ostracized from the family. Yet that door is open to any just a crack. Just in case someone changes.

@DeWayfarer sure, I believe people can. But he's an old old man. And he's been at this since my mom was a kid.

I hope your family will come around though
