It’s easy is to turn away from the world and politics. Until you have a child, and then suddenly you’re anxious because it’s their world now.

My son is 8 months old and I’m thinking will his health care stay free as it was for me, will he be educated properly, will he be able to find work, buy a house, have money left over to have adventures with his friends.

I turned my back on the world when my friends and I came under sustained attack because of our religious beliefs, but now I need to use my votes and my actions to lay a foundation for him to build his own world.

This is why I have cats. No kids to worry about. It’s a crappy world and I wouldn’t even know how to help someone else navigate it.

@DoubleRings I’m sure they’ll still be around to care for you when you’re ancient and decrepit

@Ceinwyn kids dont inherit that responsibility just cause you birthed them. Nor should it be expected.

I might be sick and dying right now for all you know, I might die next week in a car accident. I’m not afraid to die alone either way. (I’m really not a big talker, and I hate entertaining.) But a kitty would be nice, yes.

To have kids just to comfort you on your deathbed is silly, selfish and unfair to them. I did it for my own parents but I would never have kids to reap some kind of return on investment.

I’m happy. And the world is shitty for kids. I did the right thing for me.
