It's a small world

Some years ago when my mother in law went into a care home we sold her house. The guy who bought it has recently sold it. He's selling up to move in with his new partner who.... Lives 3 houses down from us.

He's sold it to one of my son's oldest school friends.

Over the weekend we visited my son who now lives 90miles away. While helping him fix his car one of his neighbours comes over. I worked with him over 30 years ago!

It's a small world.

Absolutely. I'm always discovering connections. Like taking a flight from Austin and and the person next to me was a classmate in 8th grade, or washing my hands at Lambert Field in St Louis and looking into the mirror and next to me is an old college roommate. Some seem like random impossibilities. Like hijacked plane on the other side of the world where the passengers were held hostage, and of the 90 or so passengers, my wife and I had connections with 3, all totally different connections. Also strange connections to the Oklahoma City bombing.

A strange house connection also. Like how many houses are there on the greater Kansas City area? Probably 200,000? I once recognized a house just by the description of the inside I'd heard 25 years prior. Like a home remodeler friend described his biggest remodeling project. For an Italian woman who did a total interior redo. Then, 25....30 years later we attended a house party by my wife's coworker and after scanning the interior I felt like I'd been there before. Then BINGO, this is the place my remodeling friend had talked about, and that "sky is the limit" Italian woman was our Italian friend, and a phone call to our Italian friend confirmed it. A triangular connection.

It is indeed. I passed my schoolmates mum in a gondola in Venice once. Also spotted a former colleague the other side of the world.
