@cherokeepatti So you were a Kmart fan? Maybe their blue light specials.

@cherokeepatti Radio Shack was branded as TANDY here :)

@Nimbus That is correct.

@Musicman There were none here in my county but would go when I tookmy daughter to the Indian clinic in Little Axe. Shawnee was a short drive from Little Axe. Didn’t go often but I liked shopping there when I was in the area and would always find things.

@cherokeepatti @Nimbus I worked there part time during my first year in college. Radio Shack.
@Musicman Personally I think RS should have left the cell phone market alone, that's what drove rhem out of business because they focused too much on them and the sales staff lost training on their core merchandise, electronic components and kits to the point that they had no idea what a pot or capacitor was.

@NativePortlander1970 Times definitely changed. Sadly Radio Shack just didn't keep up.
@Musicman They kind of did keep up, but too much, and left the rest, alienating their core patrons. My Grandfather prefered Heathkit, but when Curtis Mathis went bankrupt in the mid 70's they sold to RS, which my Grandfather reluctantly had no choice but to switch over to.

@Musicman They started using a great deal of store space for cell phones and not selling as many of the funner electronics

@cherokeepatti That's what I hear. ☹ They opened a big store chain called Planet Universe. It was so big it even had a McDonald's in it.
@cherokeepatti That's exactly why they went under, they stopped training their staff on their core products to focus on cellular, which alienated their core patrons because they no longer knew the difference between a pot and a capacitor.
