I finally have told all the people who were waiting for news. Anyone else can hear through the grapevine.

My kids are happy. Well, relieved I guess. My niece broke down at the table when we told them and had to excuse herself. James gave her a minute before taking her plate and checking on her. She stayed in there for a while but came to me later. She crawled into bed with me like she used to do when I would watch her when she was little and apologized to me. She said she had been preparing herself for the worst and she didn't expect to react that way to good news. I told her it was okay, emotions are complicated anyway and we have all been through a lot together. I braided her hair and hugged her for a long time before sending her to bed.

When she left, I finally cried too. I guess I had been holding it in just like she had.
