My family are gonna accuse me of becoming "one of them". 😅

I used to think almost exactly like them politically but lately I'm becoming less extreme. They keep telling me things they heard on the news and expecting me to be happy or proud but in my mind I'm just like, Wow, that's awful. I haven't been very open about it except to one brother (G) because he's more forgiving. But I'm afraid of causing tension or being thought of as bad because I don't think like the rest of them expect me to.

That's understandable. My family isn't really all that political. We can agree to disagree about that shit. Our disagreements are more cultural norms. I pick my battles. You want to be able to be authentic enough in your ideals without jeopardizing the sense of belonging. That's human nature. They have no way of policing your autonomy and your thoughts and as long as you're growing inwardly, the rest is background noise. Don't let it drown you out entirely.
@HijabaDabbaDoo The rest is background noise... Yeah that's a good way to put it.
@HijabaDabbaDoo what about theocratic matters?
