Going swimming

We were wanting to take our daughter who is six years old to the swimming pool. She has dwarfism and is 18 pounds and 1‘5“ tall.

Would Clara need to stay in the baby pool area? We’re going to a public pool and given that Clara is six years old she wants to be in the big pool, not in the baby pool area. We are trying to find a life small enough for, but even with a life jacket what are your thoughts on if this would be safe?

Get a good lifejacket that fits her, and take it to whichever pool she wishes to be in. Despite her dwarfism, I doubt that she considers herself a toddler. To treat her as such would be demeaning.

@novaguy2u that is the hard part right there, Clara is a little smaller than a newborn so finding a lifejacket small enough to fit her I feel like it’s going to be a challenge. But yes, I definitely wouldn’t want her to perceive herself as a toddler. I would never treat her as such:)

If you’re standing there with her, holding onto her the whole time she’ll be fine. Just stay in water where you can stand on the bottom and keep your hands under her as she swims and kicks.

it seems liek swimming would be okay with supervision but id consult others with experience on teh issue not just random peopels opinions
