That's the way it should be. My brother spent 18 years paying child support for a child that wasn't his.

@LilPrincess you're absolutely right! No child wants a mess like that. Same with divorce. The numbers are out and readily available. I doubt you'll see a big change in the laws in our lifetime. It's to easy to keep the broken system and let the children deal with it. We're in a very crazy place.

@Kenworth4954 today's philosophy if it is broken why fix it😒

@LilPrincess well said

i personally think DNA tests should be done as soon as the child is born to determine who the rightful father is. Too many times a man gets tricked into raising children that are not his
Kenworth4954 · 56-60, M
@Torsten definitely

Yes a man I knew paid child support for 8 years to his mistress before his wife discovered regular payments going out and he was having an affair. She demanded a DNA test and the child was not even his.

Well according to the legal system and judge’s rulings in the USA if a husband has provided for the child all along and is the father figure in their life and they get divorced and it comes out that he is not the father it would be cruel to the children to have the rug yanked out from under them. But it seems really unfair and cruel to make a man work & pay for something that happened behind his back and that he didn’t know about while he was married.

@cherokeepatti maybe we could look at suing the woman after the children were off the rolls then.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
I have one vote so far for a NO - must have cheated on her husband
Kenworth4954 · 56-60, M
@nedkelly or intends too🤣🤣🤣

I say no, because DNA will soon be taken at birth for identification purposes of citizenship.
I don't even have any kids to test. And never have been married.
I'm just against DNA collection. The more reasons you use anything the broader way it will be used.
BTW that is why China is collecting database information on the DNA of USA citizens. They can identify you anywhere around the world! Fake passport or no passport at all.
They can even do basic facial reconstruction from DNA alone.

If that's an important material fact to the Father, than yes. If it's not a material fact you're are requiring and you're looking at your obligations/duties as Parent as the reasoning, than, "No."

Thank ya for the BC
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@LilPrincess it was a very sad answer
Yes. It should be required at birth.

Great idea.
Years back had one done, because I just didn't trust her.
Glad I did as I became the sole custodial parent of an 18mo. old baby, which I raised through high school.
Most rewarding yet hardest job I've ever done.
