@MasterLee Yes, and and buying a dollar worth of ga at at time, with a range of 100+ miles until the next dollar's worth of gas.

@Heartlander I can remember riding my dirt bike as a kid out to the Texaco gas station and paying $0.35 a gallon. When Trump was in we paid $1.80 a gallon. Now thanks to Biden gas is $3.19. 😡

@Heartlander The lowest I remember was during a gas war with 2 stations at one intersection near the high school, 19 cents a gallon late 60’s. Regular price was about 24 cents a gallon.

@Nimbus

Through the earlier 1970s. The lowest price that I can remember was 14 cents a gallon for the lower grade in like 1971 or 72 during a gas war. Gas wars were were about gas stations competing for customers.

Additional considerations to go along with 25 center gallon gasl is that EVERYTHING was 15+times lower. A VW Beetle or a Ford Pinto cost less that $2,000, rent was $100 to $150 a month, houses cost less that $20,000, etc. Everything but wages. Wages were like 15 to 25% what they are today, so only ONE income in the household was enough to support a family of 2 or three, or more. With an income of $12 to $15,000 a year, a $20,000 home, a $2,000 car, cheap gas, 50 cent hamburgers, etc. were easily affordable.
