The other night was a rare time when showing a film paid off.
Timing is everything, dad was and is usually nowadays in a state where he just doesn't want to be alone, so i chose Mizoguchi's Sansho the Bailiff, and he recognized its greatness, that is what was so rare. Then i played *Visconti's The Leopard and he enjoyed that as well. I got so swept up in movie madness i watched more alone that night. THC can help you experience the movies you seen before into things you see for the first time.
So whatever isn't sold off, i will sometimes enjoy my collection of films and shows, but to get more films or shows i have to do what i might never do, watch a 100 in a short amount of time, like a month. Only if an extensive long term time investment is made to something will i invest further into it.
Nothing, not even films can match the immense splendor of books. Books are all you really need when push comes to shove.
* - remarking on the fancy dresses in the Ballroom sequence in The Leopard dad made a funny "they could be fat, and we'd never know" 🤭
