Girls, did you have to wear a skirt growing up?

I wore a school uniform that included a skirt. At first they wouldn’t allow shorts even under our skirts, until a couple of the girls started going on the playground gym and hanging on the bars anyway. The male teachers were uncomfortable enough that the school administrators reversed themselves and let us wear shorts under the skirts.
