I don't know how to help her

She was married off to a cripple. Her parents were poor and jumped at the first proposal that arrived.
If she had dreamed of Prince Charming, she knew it was not happening.

Her husband has a bad temper. He Passed Government support jobs provided for the handicap. Now he wanders off on wheels selling lotteries. Don't care about the family.

She works in our plantation. And works hard. She carries the burden of her family, including her husband.. She always feels the need to help people. Helps me with the garden after work.

I ask her how she is doing and she smiles and say "I have to be ok with what life is giving me".
That smile feels like a smile of resignation.

I am sad for her. Such a good woman. I wanted to do something for her.

She used to pay half of her earning as rent. And had to walk 4 miles to work. So I got her a good and cheaper place closer to the plantation.

I don't know what else I can do for her. She is a proud women. She won't ask for help.

Just sharing my tiny worries.

You could give her a healthy raise.

@Budwick I can give her more working hours. I sometimes schedule some works so that she can continue having work. Usually work is for 5 days. But when needed we can extend to Saturdays. I make sure she has an extra day. I can't raise her wages alone. That could be problem.

Maybe that is the problem you need to work out.

@Budwick Yup, I am trying to help her out financially indirectly. There is a general wage structure, just not for us, but all the plantations and other works.

Her son who lives with her is yet to find a job. So we are looking into it. There are some options. I do advance her wages sometimes. She never asked for financial help yet. I don't know if it's her proud nature talking. I will try my best.
