Did you have helicopter parents , if so , what was that like for you ?

My dad would watch me and my brother sleeping to make sure we were still breathing , Just one of the many experiences I had.

No, I had super negligent parents 😅

I’ve been gently accused of helicoptering though lol. I don’t really take those opinions to heart because 1.) those people don’t understand what it’s like to help a kid with ADHD develop executive functioning skills 2.) those people don’t come from poverty, so they don’t really understand the the long-term ramifications if I just ‘let my kid experience the natural consequences of their choices’. The peanut gallery’s mentality takes for granted that if things did go really badly then the parent will have the resources to guide things back on track. (Ex: hire a tutor) 3.) those people won’t be around once Kiddo is an adult. Hell, they won’t even be around next year. They have zero real investment in Kiddo’s future and are unaffected by whatever doors may close for her. They won’t help her pay for college if she can’t qualify for scholarships.
